Overview for Watershed Field Experiences

For a successful field experience, teachers should review the information here in order to start preparing at least 2 weeks in advance. The Schedule of Field Experiences (by School) indicates whether a given school will be going to Manassas Battlefield Park or both Occoquan Bay National Wildlife Refuge and the PWCS E.A.G.L.E.S. Center (in Woodbridge). Based on which location your class visits, please review one of the following at least 2 weeks in advance, then print and bring a copy along on your trip:

The on-line versions of these sheets also provide you interactive link to obtain [Google Maps'] directions from your school to these locations. Please be sure to print and bring a copy of all directions for your bus driver! (NOTE: Occoquan travel requires directions to both the OBNWR and the E.A.G.L.E.S. Center.)

For reference, here's a list of documents common to both locations:

  1. Schedule of Field Experiences, by School
  2. Teacher Preparation for Experiences (please start at least 2 weeks in advance)
  3. Directions to Field Experiences sites.
  4. Itinerary for the Day (please arrive 10 min. before program starts)

Each of these documents, including the tick safety letter, are also available in MS Word format for easy printing -- see this folder.

For questions, please contact Ms. Joy Greene at greeneje@pwcs.eduOn the day of your travel, you may also reach her at: 703-987-0701.

We hope your students and you have a terrific time!
